Corporate Social Responsibility

​​​​​​FREMAP's commitment to sustainability is reflected in our FREMAP's Culture Document and is projected towards the future in the FREMAP Strategic Plan 2022-2025, contributing to our responsible activity to society's progress, based on Responsibility and Social Action.

FREMAP understands Social Responsibility as its voluntary and responsible commitment, beyond its legal obligations, which, by integrating its management of the expectations of its stakeholders, contributes to improving the health, sustainable development and well-being of society.

Social Responsibility Policy

FREMAP is committed, in accordance with its Purpose, Mission, Vision and Values, to maintaining and improving the management of its Social Responsibility within the current legislative framework.

The aim of the Social Responsibility Policy is to establish the principles of action that guide FREMAP in the development of its strategy in this area, allowing it to improve its economic, social and environmental performance, contributing to the progress of society based on ethical criteria, and responding to the main stakeholders'expectations.

POLICY PRINCIPLES

In its FREMAP Social Responsibility Policy, it undertakes to:

  • Comply with, enforce and disseminate national and international law, assuming respect for the rights recognised in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Principles of the Global Compact.
  • Transparent, ethical and responsible business management, with criteria of efficiency and efficiency, reconciling its activity with the exercise of its social responsibility.
  • Ensures that its employees have a healthy and safe work environment. Respect equal opportunities, privacy, freedom of opinion, fair remuneration and avoid all forms of workplace harassment.
  • Promote job stability, facilitate work-life balance, promote training that favours the personal and professional development of its employees, maintaining a good working environment.
  • Promote social solidarity and responsibility among employees, promoting the development of their social concerns and their participation in volunteering actions.
  • Offering its customers an excellent service that, understood as a whole, entails advice against the risks that affect health and its consequences, the provision of healthcare and the management of financial benefits.
  • Make all available to its customers the human and technical resources available and guarantee the confidentiality and respect for the privacy of their data, generating channels to channel suggestions and claims.
  • Promote the management of their suppliers to be socially responsible, establish mutually beneficial, respectful, honest relationships and maintain the proper confidentiality and respect for the privacy of their data.
  • Maintain a channel of communication and dialogue with the different stakeholders, with criteria of transparency and promotion of cooperation.
  • Maintaining an environmentally friendly attitude, limiting, as far as possible, the impact of the risks derived from its actions and promoting sustainable development values in all stakeholders.
  • Support people with disabilities by seeking their physical rehabilitation and reintegration into the workplace through our Social Work and Retraining departments, as well as the granting of grants from the Social Assistance Reserve managed through the FREMAP Special Benefits Committee.
  • Develop a management system that allows you to achieve continuous improvement of your social responsibility.

Equality in FREMAP

FREMAP has its Equality Plan, a document that reaffirms the company's commitment to equality and the person, convinced that it remains the fundamental core of the Company and therefore of the Company, and in which specific measures are established to make this commitment effective.

Thus, the values that were collected until that date in the Company Culture Document and the Principles of Responsible Action have a specific development framework.

Global Compact of the UN

FREMAP is a company associated with the United Nations Global Compact UN since 2002. Through this accession, FREMAP commits to voluntarily implementing the ten Principles of the Pact, which are based on this Global Compact, its activities, integrating respect for human and social rights, respect for the environment and the fight against corruption, so that they are compatible with the interests of the civil society.

The Ten Principles:

  • Companies must support and respect the protection of fundamental human rights, which are internationally recognized, within their sphere of influence.
  • Companies must ensure that their workers are not complicit in the violation of human rights.
  • Companies must support freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining.
  • Businesses should uphold the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour.
  • Businesses should uphold the effective abolition of child labour.
  • Businesses should uphold the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
  • Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges.
  • Businesses should undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility.
  • Companies should promote the development and dissemination of environmentally friendly technologies.
  • Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

FREMAP, as a company adhered to the United Nations Global Compact, supports the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. To contribute to this global agenda, we have identified the SDGs in which our activity has a direct impact. In this way, the Social Responsibility Master Plan is aligned with the 2030 Agenda and the achievement of these global goals.

Diversity Charter

Diversity Charter The Diversity Charter is an initiative of the Foundation for Diversity, set up in 2009 by the European Institute for Diversity Management and the Alares Foundation, which promotes and implements in the Spanish public institutions and companies, with the aim of to become a support for the implementation of policies and strategies for diversity and inclusion.

The Diversity Charter is an initiative that seeks to encourage companies and institutions to join the cause of diversity and inclusion in the labour market, insofar as each company or institution is able to assume its diversity and inclusion agenda.

The Charter of Diversity is supported by its mission and work by the European Commission, as it is one of those existing within the European Union in the European Platform for Diversity Letters and the European Month of Diversity, among other initiatives.

The Diversity Charter is aligned with the 2030 Agenda, within the SDGs 5, 8 and 10, and the UN Global Compact Principles 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6.

FREMAP maintains its commitment to this initiative, collaborating and participating in the ten principles of the Diversity Charter, as well as in other initiatives that develop and that promote its principles.

Social Action

At FREMAP we have a firm commitment to improving society. This commitment is the result of the development of the Social Action programmes at our Company with the aim of channelling the social spirit of our employees and supporting their solidarity concerns.

The mission of our FREMAP Social Action is to promote solidarity by carrying out voluntary actions in favour of people in a situation of difficulty, creating a collaboration space in which the social concerns of FREMAP employees can be developed and exhibited.

Every two years, FREMAP Social Action organises a Solidarity Projects Competition, in which FREMAP employees can present projects from different non-profit organisations. The 11th edition of the Competition, held in 2023, was won by:

1st WINNING PROJECT: BICOS DE PAPEL + BABIES UGANDA

  • Bicos de Papel - Aloumiño

    The aim of the project Aloumiño is to provide comprehensive care to children with a haematology pathology in the area of the Alvaro Cunqueiro Hospital in Vigo, through the coverage of specific services that involve complementary and cross-cutting actions to the different public programmes and services that they affect the coverage of the needs of minors and their families, such as the reinforcement of education and monitoring of the acquisition of their own capacities at their age, psychological care, paediatric physiotherapy, cancer therapy, among others, as well as the support in the coverage of the most basic family needs vulnerable from socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Babies Uganda – Puntadas de Esperanza

    The aim of the Punadas de Esperanza project is to provide the necessary equipment to a sewing room for women and children in one of the poorest areas of Uganda. The idea is to train them for the manufacture of bags, footwear, etc. So that they can start generating their own income by having a trade.

    This project will have a huge impact on families in the area, as they are currently living in absolute poverty and have no access to any kind of training. Therefore, we believe that this is not only an opportunity, but it will make them feel that there is still a ray of hope in the future.

2nd WINNING PROJECT: COLLABORATIVE FAMILY KITCHEN - RED CROSS

  • Collaborative Family Kitchen - Red Cross

    This collaboration project has been developing its functions since 2016 in the Granada Poniente. It is an alternative to the “social dining room,” preserving the dignity and standardisation of everyday life.

    What characterises this project is the participation and collaborative commitment of the participants in the logistics, attendance at training workshops and courses, competencies and work orientation, whose aim is to make it a temporary alternative that they can leave when their economic conditions improve.

    43 Families are available, and those who need it, an equipped industrial kitchen, pantry, showers, changing rooms, washing machine, etc. facilities where family members are actively integrated by preparing menus, distributing and cleaning the kitchen, covering the basic needs of the group with resources.

The Social Action at FREMAP has its most practical manifestation through solidarity campaigns. Through these, actions can be carried out, as volunteers, to help improve the environment and developing countries.

Environmental Management

FREMAP is committed, in accordance with its Purpose, Mission, Vision and Values , to maintaining and improving its management model based on continuous improvement and innovation, whose key factors are excellence in service and excellence in management, within the current legislative framework.

To support the Policy, FREMAP has a Management System that integrates environmental concepts, promoted by Management, which provides a systematic approach to environmental management. As a reference for establishing, implementing and improving this Management System, the standard of UNE-EN ISO 14001: 2015 is followed.

A few examples of good environmental practices are:

  • FSC certification for responsible role
  • Environmentally responsible purchases
  • Segregation and management of all sanitary, hazardous and domestic generated waste
  • Agreement with Ambilamp for the management of fluorescent lights and lamps
  • Agreement with Ecobatteries for the management of batteries.

By joining the DIGITAL Pact, FREMAP undertakes to implement the principles and recommendations set out therein, as well as to disseminate among its employees and people using the Priority channel to request the urgent removal of sexual and violent content on the Internet, as well as other tools and tools to help raise awareness of the value of privacy and the importance of personal data processing.
